In selecting a joist hanger for your thai bag, you definitely want to install a stout hanger that does the job for the long haul. The KO Fightgear joist hanger fits the bill. When you are squeezed for height, as in a basement installation where every inch is critical for hanging a thai bag, our joist hanger is designed to recess between the joists and flush mount to the above sub floor. You can observe from the design that the joist hanger provides both side to side and horizontal stability. As long as the unit is installed properly and ceiling joists are in good structural condition for carrying the load, the joist hanger is rated by the manufacturer to hold a bag weight to 500 lbs. We have two sizes; out of the box, the units are dimensioned to fit ceiling joists on 16 inch and 24 inch centers. Our hardware kit includes 1/2 inch bolts, not 1/4 inch bolts which are sold by some of our competitors. For best results, we recommend the use of both a spring and a swivel. The only eventual wear and tear over time would be to the eye bolt, which should be replaced with a case hardened steel part that is sold at local hardware centers. This unit is a natural for any heavy bag including a tear drop. Also fits rafters. Our joist hanger has many applications.
